About Mentell
Mentell provides safe, confidential spaces for men to talk, free from advice and judgment. With a long-standing reputation for impactful mental health support, particularly for hard-to-reach male groups, Mentell is now launching “We Still Need You” – a bold and innovative 2-year project to reduce loneliness, isolation, and suicide risk among male veterans across Cheshire by empowering them to give back through peer-led support.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, and mission-aligned Project Manager to oversee the delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of this groundbreaking project. Working one day per week, you will ensure timely progress, maintain strategic alignment with funder expectations (including reporting on progress during, and at the conclusion of the project), and support a small but passionate team of ex-military Community Champions.
You’ll be the critical link between delivery teams, stakeholders, and funders—bringing structure, clarity, and momentum to a project that could save lives.
Key Responsibilities
1.Project Coordination & Delivery
- Develop and maintain a delivery timeline and ensure all milestones are met.
- Involve and update key internal and external stakeholders as appropriate, including but not limited to the Mentell staff, Mentell Community Champions, and external partners (e.g. Cheshire East Council).
- Support the facilitation and logistics of training workshops.
- Monitor and supervision of Veteran(s) Community Champions.
2.Monitoring, Reporting & Evaluation
- Lead the tracking of project outputs and outcomes using tools like SWEMWBS.
- Maintain accurate records of participant demographics, attendance, and feedback.
- Collate quarterly updates and draft narrative reports for funders.
- Coordinate impactful storytelling (e.g. gathering testimonials, case studies, and media).
3.Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the project in relevant meetings (e.g. Self-Harm and Suicide Prevention Board).
- Maintain warm, productive relationships with venues, veteran organisations, and community partners.
- Ensure robust data handling and safeguarding standards in collaboration with Mentell’s safeguarding officer.
4.Budget Oversight
- Track spending against the project budget.
- Raise flags early for risks to budgetary or delivery targets.
- Collaborate with Finance and Fundraising leads to maintain financial transparency.
Person Specification
Essential
- Proven experience managing community, mental health or research projects (min 2 years)
- Familiarity with mental health or suicide prevention work.
- Strong project management skills: planning, risk management, and evaluation.
- Confident communicator – written and verbal – with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Passion for male mental health, peer-led support models, and lived experience leadership.
Desirable
- Military background or direct experience working with veterans.
- Understanding of safeguarding in community mental health settings.
- Familiarity with funder reporting requirements (e.g. Armed Forces Covenant Fund).
- Experience using the CRM tool - Hubspot
